[invest]Carlson Signs Park Plaza Deal For Chengdu

Carlson has announced the development of The Park Plaza Chengdu Wuhou Hotel.
Owned by Chengdu Zhixin Industrial Group Company, the 240-room hotel will be designed by architectural firm, Woodhead International Shanghai, an Australian-based company, and is scheduled to be launched in May 2009.
Paul Kirwin, president, Carlson Hotels Worldwide - Asia Pacific, says, "Chengdu is one of the fastest growing cities in China. It provides a critical role in developing the country's economy. As a key target market for Carlson Hotels Worldwide - Asia Pacific's continuing growth in China, we believe The Park Plaza Chengdu Wuhou is an important addition to our expansion plans because of its strategic location and the potential it brings to our growing portfolio and investment in the region and around the world."
The 240-room Park Plaza Chengdu Wuhou comprises a 14-story tower with a connecting podium that incorporates retail and office space. The Park Plaza Chengdu Wuhou brings the number of Carlson hotels currently under development in China to three. There are currently nine hotels already operating in China under Carlson hotel brands including Regent Hotels & Resorts, Radisson Hotels & Resorts and Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts brands.
