Dubai-based Emirates says it continues its support of local communities and will be inviting some very special guests to join them this September at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2007.
Just like the inaugural tournament in 1991, the FIFA Women's World Cup 2007 will be held in China. This flagship event in women's football will bring together, from the 10th to 30th September, the top sixteen teams from the six confederations.
Emirates will be inviting youth football fans and underprivileged students to join them at the matches being held at football stadiums in Shanghai, Tianjin, Wuhan, Chengdu and Hangzhou.
Edwin Lau, Emirates' regional manager for Greater China and North East Asia said, "We believe sports is an ideal vehicle to communicate with our customers and enables us to achieve global awareness of our brand. Association with the most high-profile sporting events in the world is part of Emirates' strategy to become a global brand and household name. This tournament helps to further strengthen our confidence and commitment to this dynamic country. Football is one of the best platforms for us to share and enjoy the passion and commitment of our customers and to build a closer relationship with them."
The partnership with the FIFA Women's World Cup 2007 also marks Emirates' fast expansion in China. The airline currently operates daily non-stop passenger services and six weekly freighter services to Shanghai and inaugurated Beijing direct daily flights last September.
