A piano recital of classical music will be presented by Cole Burger at 7 p.m. Friday, June 15 at the Church of the Nazarene, on the corner of Blue Starr and Dorothy in Claremore. It will feature works by Franz Liszt, J.S. Bach, Olivier Messiaen and Ludwig Van Beethoven.
There will be no admission charge for the recital, but donations will be received to benefit Safenet Services.
Burger has previously organized and performed in similar benefit recitals for worthy non-profit organizations throughout the central part of the U.S.
The June 15 recital in Claremore will also mark the pianist¡¯s Oklahoma debut.
Burger is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at The University of Texas in Austin, where he studies with Anton Nel and serves as a Teaching Assistant. Burger holds degrees in piano performance and economics from The University of Texas at Austin and Northwestern University.
He has just returned from an appearance at the annual Chinese-American International Piano Institute held at the Sichuan Conservatory in Chengdu, China. Earlier this year he finished with second place honors at the 2007 Janice K. Hodges Contemporary Piano Performance competition in San Antonio, Texas.
Cole Burger is a native of Fort Smith, Ark., and the son of Claremore residents, Pastor Mark and Rosalind Burger.
