Located in the Manjusri Court History and Culture Protection Zone in the centre of the Chengdu city, the Manjusri Monastery (also known as
Wen Shu Yuan) is the largest Buddhist monastery in Chengdu. During the Cultural Revolution between 1966 to 1976, monks were severely persecuted and Buddhist recordings were burnt.
Today, the Manjusri Monastery is also the Sichuan Provincial Buddhist Association and the Chengdu Municipal Buddhist Association. Unlike any other temple in Singapore, an admission ticket is required to enter the Manjusri Monastery.
