The Chengdu Culture and Tourism Development Company has signed an agreement with Hana Tour Service, which provides travel services in South Korea, to jointly develop tourism markets and promote Chengdu to inbound Korean tours.
This year there will be approximately 30,000 South Korean tourists visiting Chengdu for sightseeing on more than 160 charter flights. The number of tourists arriving from South Korea to Chengdu is expected to reach about 70,000 in 2008, twice the number for last year. The Chengdu Culture and Tourism Development Group Company said that South Korea is one of the most important inbound tourist source markets for Chengdu. In 2007, the number inbound tourists from South Korea greatly increased compared to the same period in 2006.
Founded in March 2007, the group is a wholly state-owned company authorized by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the Chengdu Municipal Government. It mainly focuses on development, marketing, and optimizing the allocation of culture and tourism resources, as well as the construction and operation of major cultural and tourism facilities and infrastructure.
