Chengdu has no Post-seismic Epidemic Situation

The Chengdu Municipal Information Office held a news conference on June 22 to publicize the situation on post-disaster epidemic disease prevention of the city.
According to the conference, the city has implemented a daily report system on emergencies including epidemic situation in the disaster areas, food poisoning, etc. since May 15; the departments of disease prevention and control at various levels has begun to make daily and weekly analysis on the situation of infectious diseases so as to obtain on-going information of the occurrence and prevalence of epidemics and to locate abnormal conditions as soon as possible and make early-warnings.
After the earthquake, Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Health established a medical rescue headquarter for earthquake relief immediately and set up working teams in the three heavy-disaster areas including Dujiangyan, Pengzhou and Chongzhou. On May 13, the bureau transferred a group of 1,000 medical staff to the disaster area to be responsible for the medical treatment and disease control of medical rescue, disinfection, drinking-water security, etc.
$page$ On the night of the day when the earthquake happened, the bureau made a revision and released the Scheme on Post-seismic Emergency Treatment of Drinking-water Supply and Pollution in the Disaster Area as well as five emergency treatment plans on post-seismic food hygiene, infectious diseases control on respiratory tract and intestine, post-seismic disinfection technologies in the disaster area, etc. And after that, the bureau has made a series of more than 70 documents on post-seismic epidemic control.
By June 21, the city had sent an accumulated of 212,200 person-times of medical staff, 51,300 vehicle-times, disinfection area of 390.7373 million sq. meters, treatment of 1.5517 million toilets and 1.4222 million breeding grounds of mosquitoes and flies, detection of 124,400 times of food production plants and 16,000 times of water supply plants, and detection of 16,500 times of resettlement points.
The drinking-water experts from the Ministry of Health have been stationed at Dujiangyan Water Supply Company to make detection on the water every six hours.
$page$ The city also reinforced disinfection and guidance on self-prepared water, well water and scattered water supply.
The health system at various levels of the city established working groups on disease control epidemic prevention teams in townships and villages to ensure every township has a working group and every village has at least two epidemic-prevention health staff.
The city resumed immunization in the heavy disaster area at a fast pace and developed intensified preventive vaccination for age children in view of the possible epidemics of hepatitis A and encephalitis B, etc. and the vaccination rate reached 96.4% and 92.76% respectively.
